Morvan

A breath of fresh air

Located halfway between Paris and Lyon, the Parc Régional Naturel du Morvan has everthing to offer: exercise, culture and impressive panoramic views! Along a path, a river or a lake, you may meet fairies or witches, the wyverns as they like to be called here.

Forests

128 000  hectares of wooded land in the Morvan, in other words 45% of the total surface area of the park! Not bad, is it? Half are deciduous trees (mainly oaks and beeches) and the other half are conifers (Douglas fir, larches, spruces, firs, etc.).

Most of the forests are privately owned or owned by local councils.

Many hiking trails are marked and accessible to all.

Lakes

Did you know that 6 artificial lakes were created in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, mostly for floating wood to Paris, but also to supply drinking water and produce electricityMorvan trees were felled and floated upstream to heat the capital for over 300 years !

Each lake has its own personality, from the most peaceful to the wildest:

sailing, swimming, hiking, fishing, paddle boarding

The choice is yours!

Peaks

Considered mountainous since it extends from the Massif Central, the Morvan Regional Natural Park offers inhabitants and visitors alike a landscape where forests and rolling countryside merge. The highest point in this part of the Morvan is the HautFolin, at 901 metres above sea level.
